This amazing lady is 84 years old. She is my mom’s mother …and probably one of the best human beings on the planet. I just love my grammy. She was in town this week for the holidays from Quebec, so my mom appointed me to do a beauty treatment on her. We had SO much fun.
I first gave her a facial treatment which consisted of using the PMD Microdermabrasion Device I won from another blogger’s contest on her skin. This thing is AMAZING! (How excited was I to win something haha!!) I used the blue “sensitive” discs on her, as she has never had anything done to her skin of the sort and I figured it might be best to go that route. Actually, an Important FYI, I also own the green “medium” discs, and I can’t in good conscience recommend those because of how badly my skin reacted. I had welts that went in lines across my face that took about 48 hours to go away. The blue have never given me that type of reaction. It is really important to read the directions before using this device and watch the video so that you know what you are doing! Either way, my gram’s skin turned out amazing after using this treatment. I then applied the Andalou Naturals Pumpkin Glycolic Mask to her skin and had her sit under my Dr. Dennis Gross Skin Care Solutions Facial Steamer to help the mask really penetrate. After that, I decided to throw on another mask just for the fun of it. I had a sample of the Kiehls Rare Earth Pore Cleansing Mask As you can see, her skin really glowed after. We also had a lot of fun and laughs while she had it on.
For the makeup, here is what I used:
Foundation: Diorskin Nude Skin-Glowing Makeup in Linen
Concealer: Benefit Erase Paste in Medium
Setting Powder: Bobbi Brown Sheer Finish Loose Powder in Peach to set the concealer
Blush: Estee Lauder Blush in “lover’s blush”
Eyeshadow: Mac Eyeshadow in Naked Lunch
Eyeliner: Bobbi Brown Gel Ink Liner in Ivy Ink. With her being in her 80’s, I did not want to do harsh black, so the forest green shimmer really worked well with her eye color and didn’t come off as too strong. I used it on the top and part of the bottom lash line with a Chikuhodo GSN Series GSN-11 shadow liner brush.
Mascara: Estee Lauder Sumptuous Extreme Lash Multiplying Volume Mascara
Brows: I had to shape her brows a bit with tweezers before applying any makeup. I then added a very soft ash brown shade from my Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette called Naked 2 to define her brows, as both outside sides of her brows wouldn’t have shown up in the picture had I not. I thought the outcome was soft but perfect for her hair color and skin tone.
Lips: Cailyn Tinted Lip Balm in Acid Pink…LOVED how this looked on her!
Again, this was a ton of fun and makes me sad that she doesn’t live close to me so we can’t do this often. I hope that I will be with it enough at 84 to want to still wear makeup and look put together, just like her! 🙂 She is the best.
