I am such a brush nerd!!!! My collection is kind of out of control. I do think brushes are so important for appropriate makeup application. If you have ever painted a wall with a cheap or inappropriate paintbrush and paint, and then a really nice appropriate paintbrush that pairs well with the formula of the paint, you will see different results (*not all cheap brushes are bad, you can find some really good ones which I will be reviewing soon). The same thing goes for brushes and makeup!! I thought I would share some great top picks for contouring as far as brushes are concerned. I have always loved the Nars ITA contour brush….It really excels terms of defining the cheek bones and fitting nicely right into the hollow of the cheeks if you do a little back and forth motion with it. It does tend to be a teeny bit scratchy now that I own softer brushes, but I just love the look of it. The Rae Morris Ultimate Cheekbone is SOOOO soft and works really well for contouring the cheekbones and the hairline because it has a little more thickness to the bristles. The way it is shaped allows you to contour the cheekbones in one swoop! My final pick is the Wayne Goss #12, which is one of my favorite brushes and should be a staple in every ones collection. This brush is kind of one of those do it all brushes; it applies blush beautifully, it blends out makeup, but it also is shaped like a blunt rectangle so that you can apply contouring powder along the hairline and in the hollows of the cheekbones with ease and quickly because it has a larger surface area. I pictured the Nars Zen bronzer here as my go to contour powder, but there are plenty out there to choose from. What are some of your favorites??
