I’m trying to keep my skin care super simple now that I am over halfway through my pregnancy! I can’t even believe it’s going so fast this time around. As I have said before, I really don’t like to use too many products with chemicals in them when I am pregnant, so I felt the need to switch things up a bit. Luckily, at this stage of pregnancy (24 weeks and counting), my skin is very non-reactive. I wish it was always this way!!!! Either way, I am loving these products and feel like this would be the perfect regimen for anyone who is expecting that wants to stear clear of chemicals.
1. Balance Me Cleanse & Smooth Face Balm(Find it Here): I love the feel of this face balm cleanser after a long day. It is just like a mini spa experience. It’s full of amazing essential oils and natural butters like sweet almond oil, rose hip oil, shea butter and mango seed butter and has a very unique herbal scent that you will either love or hate. It is made in the UK so it is a little hard to come by, but luckily a few vendors sell it that ship to the US. This cleansing balm also contains oatmeal powder that is not rough or abrasive which allows for the perfect amount of gentle exfoliation. You apply it to your skin dry and then use the muslin cloth that comes with it to steam it off of your face. A lot of people have reviewed it saying that it felt like the cleanser didn’t come off properly, but for me it is just an issue of using the right temperature of water (as in slightly hot) on the cloth to melt the cleanser off and do it a few times. My skin feels fresh and moisturized after I remove this. This is a great winter end of the day cleanser!
2. Bogavia The Essential Facial Cream in Ultra Rich: I found this organic cream that is shea butter based at a local beauty shop and fell in love immediately. It is basic and non-scented, but rich and hydrating. For being 30$, it contains some amazing ingredients like aloe, hyaluronic acid, sea kelp, green tea, calendula, chamomile and immortelle. My skin never feels parched in the morning. I like that it is silicone free. I’ve been using it morning and night. You can also layer it with serums and oils, it is that gentle and non-irritating.
3. Andalou Naturals Pumpkin Honey Glycolic Mask: I have loved this mask for years. It is SO affordable too and provides the perfect amount of glycolic acid to feel that stinging sensation when you apply it but is not overly abrasive nor will it leave you red and irritated (for most people anyways, save those that have allergies to glycolic acid). I highly recommend it as a gentle treatment for some extra glow during pregnancy as glycolic acid is deemed ok to use!
