I finally feel the need to come out with my announcement that I am 21 weeks pregnant with baby #2! This is the major reason I have been so MIA on my blog, which I feel bad about. I was brutally ill for almost 4 straight months. If you could Imagine having a moderate stomach flu for that amount of time, that is what I was going through..I didn’t feel like doing ANYTHING. Not quite sure how I made it through that with a small toddler, but God gave me the strength somehow. I can’t believe I am over half way there already though. It’s crazy to think that in a little less than 4 months we will be a family of 4 (well 5 including our first born rescue dog). I have a ton of different feelings going on at the moment in my head and heart, like pure happiness, but also wonder, worry, and the thought of my firstborn changing roles to be a big sister and not the baby. Yikes!! It’s all so scary and wonderful at the same time. I cannot wait to meet our little peanut!!!
Anyways, I thought it was an appropriate time for some gift ideas for girls in your life who are expecting, or even for ones that aren’t! Most of these have nothing to do with the actual baby…that’s for later haha. Here are some things I like:
A girlfriend of mine just sent me these amazing Orgaid Anti Aging masks that go on as a sheet. These are literally some of the most awesome sheet masks I’ve tried and all organic/natural. I just love the way that my skin feels after using them, very soft and bright looking. Trust me, when you are sick for months on end, it shows in your face and anything that brightens your face is helpful. It is also quite relaxing, as I literally am forced to sit for 30 minutes with this stuck to my face (when you are pregnant and nesting, you want to be doing a million productive things at all times). My husband was slightly traumatized at first when he saw me wearing this, but is starting to get used to being startled by me parading around in weird beauty treatments at this point. Luckily, we are best friends so we just laugh together. I should probably step up my game and be more subtle, but that’s kinda boring… ;). I may have already passed the point of no return anyways.
Tea drinking has been one of my favorite pastimes with this second pregnancy. It calms my **out of control** nerves and really helps me to relax. I have loose, organic chamomile tea, and I use this tea maker from Teavana, one of my favorite stores of all times. This makes the whole “loose tea” ordeal a ton easier and you can actually store this container in the refrigerator for a few days and reuse the leaves. Here is a nice guide to look at for which teas are safe to drink when pregnant.
I have one of these blankets from the Honest Company, which I think they stopped selling sadly but this Radia Shield Blanket from target blocks radiation from lap tops or cell phones. I always wonder as I am sitting with my laptop what the small amount of radiation on a daily basis is doing to my body, let alone my baby’s body as it is growing in the womb. I would rather err on the side of caution, so I use this blanket over my legs and stomach just to be safer. It’s 99.9% effective at blocking radiation. I almost wonder if everyone should be using one of these!
Oh. Tights. Thank God these are now the acceptable every day wear these days. I used to think ladies wearing tights was the ugliest trend of all times. Now, I live in them. Especially being pregnant, and growing much faster this time around, tights are a necessity. I have had such a hard time finding tights that aren’t too restricting but look good still, until I came across these Athleta High Rise Chaturanga Tights. I hate buying maternity clothes, so finding things I can wear after the fact is key. These work! I feel extremely comfortable in them and they are good quality. The top can also be folded down to rest under the growing belly.
This was my birthday present from my husband. No, I don’t ask for jewelry or clothes….I ask for weird random things like giant bean bags. Best. Purchase. EVER. The only downfall this bean bag is that it’s pretty hard to get out of. I literally have to roll out of it, otherwise i’m going to stress out my stomach muscles and I don’t want to overdo anything at this point. Otherwise, my daughter and I have been legit living in this thing. She LOVES to snuggle mommy in the bean bag with a blanket and a movie(Frozen….ofcourse). I will never sit on the couch again. Being pregnant and exhausted most days, this thing is a life saver.
I found this yummy smelling whipped body butter by Pure+ Fresh at a beauty store in my area and fell in love with it. It’s such a unique scent, and so refreshing. This is an all natural, organic body butter that I am using to avoid stretch marks. I was religious with my first pregnancy with moisturizing and was able to avoid them, so I am hoping for the same this time around. I am very strict about using natural body products at this point, so this is a big winner in my book!
This protein powder has been my saving grace thus far. When you are pregnant, you can’t drink coffee. Some people say under 200 mg a day is fine, but when there are studies out there showing that high amounts of caffeine can increase miscarriage risk, then I’m just going to completely steer clear of it. I always try to go above and beyond when another little individual is involved (hence why I don’t dye my hair or use self tanner when I am pregnant). Either way, this protein is plant based and organic. It gives me SO much energy. I usually make a smoothie with it (banana, coconut milk, a scoop of protein, 4-5 dates, small scoop of peanut butter and kale). My daughter will drink this entire smoothie as well, so it’s a great way to get her some nutrients. I highly recommend this for a total boost in energy, especially first thing in the morning!
As I stated earlier, anything that is brightening for the face is helpful when you are pregnant. This wand is natural and non-toxic and gives a really gorgeous glow to the skin. It is one of my non-toxic favorites!
Hope you are all enjoying the early winter months!! XOXO
