Ladies (and Gentlemen!)… Who washes their face twice a day? I hope those of you who wear makeup wash it at LEAST at the end of the day to remove your makeup. If your face wash does not remove all of your makeup at night, you are doing yourself a huge disservice. This can lead to clogged pores, premature aging of your skin and dullness. Throughout the years, I have gone through so many different types of face washes. I have had bad luck with anything that foams. I feel like they dry out my skin really bad which leads to breakouts, even though they clean well. I have always done better with a cream cleanser.
For as long as I can remember, I used a Noxema Cleanser that no longer exists :(. I think it was the commercial that got me! It actually worked really well, being a non foamy cream. Cetaphil NEVER has worked for me. I don’t know why it has a cult following! It is horrible at removing makeup!!!!
For a few years, I’ve used the Yes to Carrots Cream Cleanser which works very well and does not irritate my skin. If you are looking for a really great buy, you can get this at Target for really cheap. They also have a fragrance free version. I also had good luck with the Caiylin Cleansing Balm which is GREAT for winter months when my skin tends to be more dry.
Needless to say, I wasn’t looking for a new cleanser, but Glossier (I can’t stop talking about them, and they don’t even pay me to say this stuff… haha) came out with a new cleanser called the Milky Jelly Cleanser-18$ and it is just amazing. I feel like this cleanser will have a cult following kind of like Cetaphil, except that it ACTUALLY works. It is somewhere between a cream and a balm, a true milky jelly. I LOVE that it comes in a pump jar too. It smells faintly of roses. The most amazing thing about this cleanser is that you can use it wet or dry. That means, in the morning you apply it to your face after you wet your skin and then lather it up a bit. At night, you apply it to dry skin like a balm and then use a hot washcloth; all of your makeup just melts right off with steam. It doesn’t take off waterproof or longwear eye makeup, BUT if you use a Microfiber Mitt around the eye area, it will come right off! I love that one of the cleansing agents in it is what they use in contact cleansing solution, so you can actually use it safely in your eye area without stinging! It has softeners that condition the skin, so after cleansing you won’t feel like your skin is tight or dry, which is key for not having a negative reaction to a face wash. I would highly recommend this face cleanser if you are on the market for a new one and haven’t found something that really works for you yet!!
If you are looking for a great organic option, then Elizabeth Dehn For One Love Organics Vitamin B Active Moisture Cleansing Oil& Makeup Remover– 38$ is an EXCELLENT option. I tried this for a few months, and it works wonderful. It is just very pricey for a cleanser. It doesn’t leave your skin dry and does an amazing job of removing makeup. This cleanser also smells amazing!
