So I really challenged myself this time to do a look with a FULL face of drugstore picks. I’d have to say, it doesn’t look any different than if I did it with high price items! I have a penchant for department store stuff, but some days, it’s helpful to use cheaper stuff to save my really good makeup for the weekends or nights out. Here are the products I used:
Yes to Grapefruits CC Cream-15.99$
This is a really light coverage “color correcting” cream by Yes To Grapefruits with SPF 18 coverage. I wanted to check it out because I have never tried a CC cream and am kinda bored of BB creams. It provided a very thin veil of coverage (in Light to Medium) with a slightly dewey finish that goes away after a few hours. I am kind of on the fence about this, but it photographed really nicely. I can really only use it on good skin days based on the extremely light coverage it provides, and have not had it long enough to know if it is going to do much for me in terms of color correcting. If you are looking for something that just gives you a tiny bit of coverage and SPF for every day, then this could work for you.
EDIT 10/28: I am absolutely OBSESSED with this product now. I have used it daily since this last post so that is telling that it works…I never use something every day for long term. I honestly feel like it has brightened up my skin and a lot of my dark spots are gone. It DOES NOT break me out…I almost feel like it has helped my skin stay bright and clear. THANK YOU yes to grapefruits for making this awesome product. Like I said, it is lighter coverage, but for everyday work wear it is perfect. 🙂
Maybelline Line Stylist in Espresso : I like how fine this eyeliner goes on. It’s great for tightlining the water line on the upper and lower lashes. It just can tend to run slightly, but that’s what you get from drugstore eyeliners :/!
Maybelline The Falsies Mascara : Ummm forgot why this mascara is sitting in my closet!!
Maybelline Dream Bouncy Blush in Fresh Pink: This blush is so bright and glowy looking. I love it!
NYX Natural Palette-6.99$
This is a really great palette that reminds me of Bobbi Brown’s new chocolates palette which I will be reviewing. It’s only 6.99$!! These eyeshadows from NYX go on really smooth and are nicely pigmented. I used the two darkest shades to create this look but blended them really well.
NYX HD Concealer in Medium- 4.99$: cheapest best concealer on the market!
I am excited to replicate this look for my week of work, knowing I won’t have to overuse my expensive stuff!
